AUDITIONS
Quick warm-ups, stretches, across the floor technique, then we’ll teach a short combination. On the second day they will come and audition in groups of 4. We’re looking for strength and flexibility, strong dance technique in leg lifts, turns, leaps and in the demonstration of the choreography. Work ethics & SHOWMANSHIP are extremely important!
Below are the judges sheets for the different age group (current grade):
PLEASE REMEMBER that you are auditioning for a performance group, and each age group has specific skill expectations. As with any audition, placement is limited. We encourage all applicants to use this experience as an opportunity to grow and challenge themselves as dancers.
TEAM DESCRIPTION
Premieire, Petite & Jr Teams
Designed to provide younger, motivated dancers with additional performance opportunities in primarily local venues such as basketball halftimes, Christmas festivals, and parades.
The Premiere Team will compete at one local competition, while the Petite and Junior Teams will compete at two to three local competitions.
Velocity, Sr & E-Teams
Our older performance teams are designed for dancers who truly live, eat, drink, and breathe dance—those who are ready to make dance a top priority.
Because of the level of commitment required, these teams are not the best fit for dancers who are heavily involved in other activities. In those cases, we recommend placement in a regular dance class where dancers can still perform and enjoy the experience without the same level of commitment.
Dancers on these teams can look forward to performing at events such as the Spud Day Parade, Festival of Trees, high school halftime shows, showcases, and other local performances. They will also compete at three to four local dance competitions throughout the season.
PARENT MEETINGS
There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for parents and TEAM dancers (at least one parent per dancer)
Monday May 18th, Petite TEAM 5:00-6:00pm, Velocity TEAM 6:00-7:00pm, E-TEAM 7:00-8:00pm, at the studio. Parents will need to bring their check books.
Tuesday May 19th, Sr TEAM 5:00-6:00pm, Premiere TEAM 6:00-7:00pm, Jr TEAM 7:00-8:00pm, at the studio. Parents will need to bring their check books.
CLASSES
Team dancers will meet twice per week as a team and are also required to enroll in a ballet technique class. Team classes will begin in August, and regular classes will start the first week of September.
FUND RAISERS
To help Performance Team dancers offset the cost of uniforms and costume fees, a variety of fundraising opportunities will be offered throughout the season. Participation in fundraisers is optional. Sponsorship forms are also available.
ATTENDANCE
Please read and sign the Attendance Contract provided with the Parent Form so you can understand the challenges presented when dancers are not in class or not at performances.
PRICES
In addition to classes ($90-$120/month) and corresponding costumes ($150-$180), TEAM dancers will need to pay for the following: Warm-ups and class wear- around $170 and Lyrical Jazz Shoes -$26 (can be purchased through the studio). They will also need to pay a $30/dance ($60 total) choreography fee- due with August tuition. August fee will be $70-$90. The competition fees last year were $235-$365. This year the price will be the same or very close to it and are due July 15th. Sr. Team & E-Team will have one extra competition to pay for. Lastly, we have professional choreographers/judges come in and clean their dances. This price is usually $20-$25 for each dance (2).
Each dancer who auditions will need to BRING: $15.00 audition fee per dancer and a signed copy of the Parent Form.
Each dancer who auditions will need to WEAR: Black fitted tank or leotard (no loose T-shirts), black dance pants or tights, jazz shoes or ballet slippers. Hair pulled back and out of the face. Please look neat and professional.
