AUDITIONS Quick warm-ups, stretches, across the floor technique, then we’ll teach a short combination. On the second day they will come and audition in groups of 4. We’re looking for strength and flexibility, strong dance technique in leg lifts, turns, leaps and in the demonstration of the choreography. Work ethics & SHOWMANSHIP are extremely important!
Below are the judges sheets for the different age group:
PLEASE REMEMBER that you are auditioning for a performance group. Therefore, we expect a certain skill level for each age group. As with any audition we will only be accepting a certain amount of dancers. All applicants should use this audition as an opportunity to grow as a dancer.
PETITE & JR. TEAMS
Created to provide younger, talented dancers with more performing experience, in primarily local venues such as ball games, retirement centers, Christmas Festivals and parades. They will compete at THREE local dance competition.
SR. & E-TEAMS
Our older performance TEAMS are for dancers who “live, eat, drink and breathe” dance; who hold dance as their highest priority. If you are a dancer who is involved in sports or cheer leading (and/or many other activities) then our Performance TEAMS are not for you. It would be better for you to be in a regular dance class where you could enjoy performing without the commitment that this performance team requires. *You can look forward to any of the following: Spud Day Parade, Festival of Trees, Retirement Centers, High School half-time performances, Showcases and other local events. They will compete at 3-4 local dance competition.
There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for parents and TEAM dancers (at least one parent per dancer) Thursday May 11th, Petite TEAM 5:00-5:45, Jr. TEAM 5:45-6:30, Shining Stars TEAM 6:30-7:15, Sr. TEAM 7:15-8:00 and E-TEAM 8:00-8:45 at the studio. Parents will need to bring their check books.
TEAM dancers will meet twice a week as a team and are required to take a ballet technique class also. Members will start technique and TEAM classes August 14th. Regular classes will start the 28th of August.
To help performance TEAM dancers acquire the necessary funds needed for uniforms and costume fees, information for a variety of fund raising programs will be offered. Fund raisers are optional. Sponsorship forms are also available.
In addition to classes ($90-$120/month) and corresponding costumes ($150-$180), TEAM dancers will need to pay for the following: Warm-ups and class wear- around $160 and Lyrical Jazz Shoes -$23 (can be purchased through the studio). They will also need to pay a $25/dance choreography fee- due with August tuition. August fee will be $66-$70. The competition fees last year were $215. This year the price will be the same or very close to it and are due with January tuition. Sr. Team & E-Team will have one extra competition to pay for. Lastly, we have professional choreographers come in and clean their dances. This price is usually $20 for each dance (2).
Each dancer who auditions will need to BRING: $10.00 audition fee per dancer and a signed copy of the Parent Form.
Each dancer who auditions will need to WEAR: On top: BLACK tight tank top or leotard, no loose T-shirts. On bottom: BLACK dance pants or tights. Shoes: Jazz shoes or ballet slippers. Wear your hair back and out of your face. Look professional.
